Before you file
Filing a DMCA notice is a legal statement made under penalty of perjury. Two things to consider first.
Fair use. Quoting a short passage to illustrate a point in a study guide is usually fair use under US copyright law. Filing a takedown against a fair use is itself a misuse of the DMCA process.
Direct outreach. If the material is an essay written by a student using ieltsprep, you can email us first and we will pass the request along, no formal notice required.
How to file a takedown notice
To submit a valid notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), send an email to support@ieltsprep.site with the subject “DMCA: Takedown notice”. Include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name at the bottom of the email is fine).
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are at issue, a representative list is enough.
- The exact URL(s) on ieltsprep.site where the allegedly infringing material is located.
- Your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
Notices missing any of these elements may be rejected. We aim to respond to complete notices within 5 business days.
What happens after we receive a notice
Once we confirm a notice is complete, we remove or disable access to the material and notify the user who posted it. The user is given a copy of your notice (including your contact details, file accordingly) so they can respond.
We may also restrict or terminate the account of any user who is the subject of repeat infringement notices.
Counter-notification
If you are the user whose content was removed and you believe it was taken down in error or as a result of misidentification, you can file a counter-notice. Email support@ieltsprep.site with the subject “DMCA: Counter-notice” and include:
- Your signature (typed name is fine).
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good- faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your full name, mailing address, phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in the district of the original complainant’s address (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complainant.
We’ll forward your counter-notice to the original complainant. If they don’t file a lawsuit against you within 10–14 business days, we will restore the material.

Misuse
Filing a knowingly false DMCA notice is unlawful under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f)and can expose the filer to liability for damages, costs, and attorneys’ fees. We will push back on bad-faith notices.
