Why it exists
Good feedback on IELTS Writing is hard to come by. A real examiner is slow and expensive. Free “essay checkers” run generic English tools that miss what examiners actually mark you down on, so the score they give you doesn’t mean much.
ieltsprep grades the way an examiner does: against the official IELTS Writing Band Descriptors, across all four criteria (Task Response or Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammar). It shows the reasoning too, so you can see why you got the band and what to fix next time.
How I try to do it right
- Accuracy first.A grader that’s consistently half a band off is worse than no grader. I’m calibrating it carefully against the official descriptors, and I’ll publish the comparison once enough essays have been graded to make it honest.
- No made-up numbers.No fake reviews, no inflated user counts, no “4.9 stars” from a site that doesn’t exist. If I don’t have a real number yet, I won’t invent one.
- Independent. Not affiliated with the British Council, IDP, or Cambridge, and no partnership with any test administrator. No ads, no investors.
Who runs it
ieltsprep is owned and run by FrostPeak Ventures LLC (Wyoming, USA). It’s a one-person operation: the same person designs it, writes the code, and answers your email.
